what kind of mirror is used in the headlidhts of a car? why is it used for this purpose ?

Concave mirror is used in headlight of a car. If source of light is kept at focus of a concave mirror, it gives a parallel beam of light on reflection. Hence, concave mirror is used as headlight reflector.

A convex mirror is used. Adv. of a convex mirror:a)erect image is formed for the ease of the driver.b) Wider field of view, due to the convex(bulged out surface) of the mirror.c) Since diminished image is formed, a larger area of the image can be covered on the small surface of the mirror.
