No. of articles = x then cost per article = 600/x If cost per article = (600/x) + 5 then no. of articles = x- 4 Now, [(600/x) + 5][x - 4] = 600 Or, (600 + 5x)(x - 4) = 600x Or, 600x + 5x^2 - 2400 - 20x = 600x Or, 5x^2 + 580x - 2400 = 600x Or, 5x^2 - 20x - 2400 = 0 Or, x^2 - 4x - 480 = 0 Or, x^2 - 24x + 20x - 480 = 0 Or, x(x - 24) + 20(x - 24) = 0 Or, (x + 20)(x - 24) = 0 Or, x = 24 and cost per article = 600/24 = 25
