THE CICADA AND THE FOX
A cicada was sitting on top of a tall tree and singing beautifully. A fox, when saw that could not resist the temptation to feast on the cicada. She sat near the tree and started praising the singing of cicada. The fox said, “You have such a lovely voice and I am amazed to see such a tiny creature singing so melodiously. Why don’t you come down, so that I could see the marvel of the nature?” The cicada could see through the fox’s trick. He plucked a leaf and let it fall on the ground. The fox thought of the falling leaf to be the cicada and hence pounced on the leaf. The cicada then said, “I have been on alert against foxes ever since I saw the singes of a cicada in the spoor of a fox”.
