The Two Dung Beetles
A bull used to graze in a pasture. The bull’s manure was an endless storehouse of food for two dung beetles, which also lived in the same pasture. Winter was about to come, so one of the beetles decided to move to the mainland. He said to another beetle, “If I will find plenty of manure there, I will bring back lots to eat for you”. The beetle moved to a place where there was plenty of fresh and moist manure. He indulged himself in the plenty and forgot about his fellow beetle. When he returned he was plump and fat, while his friend was very weak. The second beetle asked why he had not come back with food, as promised. The first beetle replied, “There was plenty to eat but it was not allowed to take away”.
