ZEUS AND THE SNAKE
Zeus invited all the animals for his wedding ceremony. All the animals came with some or the other gifts. Zeus personally accepted gifts from the animals and paid his gratitude. The monkey was carrying the gift in its hands, while the kangaroo was carrying the gift in its pouch. The elephant used its trunk to carry the gift. The snake came, holding the gift in its mouth as snakes do not have limbs. When Zeus saw the snake he asked the snake to keep the gift at one side. When the snake requested Zeus to take the gift in his hands, Zeus said, “I have taken gifts from animals, even if some of them have come carrying the gift in their feet. But from your mouth I would not accept a thing”. Even the favours of the wicked people are dangerous.
