When plants of the same kind are grown and cultivated at one place on a large scale commercially, they are called a crop.
There are two types of crops in India.
Kharif
Rabi
Kharif crops are grown in the rainy season, i.e. during monsoon.
Examples: Paddy, maize, soyabean, groundnut and cotton
Rabi crops are grown in winter season.
Examples: Wheat, gram, mustard, pea and linseed
Various tasks needed during cultivation of crops are called agricultural practices. They are as follows:
Preparation of soil, Sowing, Adding manure and fertilizer, Irrigation, Protecting from weeds, Harvesting, Storage
