NCERT Exercise 2.1

The graphs of y = p(x) are given below, for some polynomials p(x). Find the number of zeroes of p(x), in each case.

Question (i)

Answer: Number of zeroes = 0, since the line is not intersecting the x-axis

Question (ii)

Answer: Number of zeroes = 1, since the line intersects the x axis once.

Question (iii)

Answer: Number of zeroes = 2, since the line intersects the x axis twice.

Question (iv)

Answer: Number of zeroes = 2

Question (v)

Answer: Number of zeroes = 4

Answer: Number of zeroes = 2
