Find Out and Write

Question 1: Does Nilima have curly hair like her nani’s? Now look for some special trait in your sister or brother (could be cousins). Like the colour of eyes, dimples in cheeks, height, broad or sharp nose, voice, etc. See if this trait comes from the father’s side or the mother’s side. Make this table in your notebook and fill it. An example is given.

Question 2: Have you seen a very young child in your (or any other) family? Whom does the child’s eyes, nose, hair or fingers look like in the family? Write their names.

Answer: Recently, my Mama has been blessed with a girl child. As my Nani says, the child’s lips look like my Nana’s lips.

Question 3: Nilima’s hair is like her nani’s - thick and curly. Nilima’s mother has straight, brown and limp hair? What type of hair do you have – black or brown, oily or dry?

Answer: My hair is blak and oily.

Question 4: What is the colour of your hair? Measure and write the length of your hair.

Answer: My hair is black. My hairs are two feet long.

Question 5: Is your hair like that of anyone else in your family? If yes, then name the person.

Answer: My hair is similar to my Dadi’s hair.

Question 6: Measure the hair of other members of your family.

Answer: My mother has the longest hair in my family.

Question 8: How many people do you know whose hair is longer than one metre? Does having long hair run in their family?

Answer: My mother and my mausi have very long hair.

Question 9: Do you know how to measure your height? Measure yourself from head to toe and write how tall you are.

Answer: My height is 4 feet 7 inches

Question 10: How tall do you think you will be when you grow up? Is anyone else in your family of the same height?

Answer: I think, I will be 5 feet 5 inches tall, a little bit more than my mother.

Question 1: What is similar between Saroja and Suvasini? What is different?

Answer: Saroja and Suvasini look like mirror images of each other. Saroja knows two lanugages – Tamil and Marathi. But Suvasini knows only Tamil.

Question 2: Do you know any twins? What is similar in them? How are they different?

Answer: There are two brothers in my class. They look similar to each other. There is a mole on right cheek of one of them.

Question 3: Do you know of twins who don’t look the same?

Answer: My Chacha and a Bua are twins. They don’t look the same.

Question 1: Have your read or heard anything about polio? Where?

Answer: I have read about poliio in newspaper.

Question 2: Have your read or heard any news about pulse polio? What?

Answer: Sometimes, pulse polio programme happens in the government school in my neighbourhood.

Question 3: Do you know of anyone who has polio?

Answer: One of my cousins has polio.

Question 4: Are there people in your house who talk loudly? Is it their habit, or they cannot also hear very well?

Answer: My Dada talks very loud. I think, it is his habit.

Question 5: Are there times when you do not talk loudly in front of some people? When? With whom? Why? When can you speak loudly?

Answer: When my father is around, I talk softly in my house. Once my father is off to work, I can talk at the top of my voice.

Question 6: Some people use a machine in their ear to help them hear better. Someone use a stick or spectacles to help them in other ways. Do you know someone who does so?

Answer: My father uses spectacles when he has to read something. My nani uses a hearing aid.

Question 7: Talk to people who cannot hear very well. Find out if they had this problem from birth. When did they start ot have a problem with hearing? What difficulties do they face?

Answer: My Nani started getting this problem about five years ago. Doctors say it is because of her age. She says she does not enjoy gossipping with people as she did earlier.
