Who will be Ningthou?

मणिपुर के कांगलीपाक में एक राजा और रानी रहते थे। वह अपनी प्रजा से बहुत प्यार करते थे। वे अपने राज्य के पशु पक्षियों और पेड़ों से भी प्यार करते थे। इसलिए कांगलीपाक के लोग बहुत खुश रहते थे।

राजा के तीन बेटे थे और एक बेटी थी।

राजा की उम्र बढ़ रही थी। इसलिए उसने भविष्य के राजा के बारे में सोचना शुरु किया। परिपाटी के अनुसार राजा का सबसे बड़ा बेटा राजा बनता था। लेकिन इस बार राजा ने कहा कि जो अपने आप को इस लायक साबित करेगा वही राजा बनेगा।

तय समय पर राजा के तीनों बेटों के बीच प्रतिस्पर्धा हुई। घुड़सवारी के रेस में तीनों बेटों ने एक साथ रेस पूरी की। उसके बाद बड़े बेटे ने एक तीर से एक बरगद के पेड़ को छेद दिया और फिर उस छेद से होकर घोड़े के साथ आर पार हो गया।

दूसरे बेटा घोडे पर सवार हुआ और उस पेड़ के ऊपर से छलांग लगा दिया। तीसरे बेटे ने तीर से पेड़ उखाड़ दिया और राजा के कदमों में गिरा दिया।

यह सब देखकर राजा की बेटी ने पेड़ को देखकर बहुत दुख जाहिर किया।

राजा ने काहा की कांगलीपाक में पशु पक्षियों और पेड़ों का सही खयाल रखने वाला ही राजा बन सकता है। इसलिए राजा की बेटी को भविष्य की रानी बना दिया गया।
